jazz / scorponok

dragonofdispairgot a suggestion for an au of my roads'verse (transformers 2007 movie fanfiction) where jazz is still alive.
... i'm having a few problems.
originally i left jazz dead in roads'verse because i'm horrible at resurrecting characters. for me, unless the world i'm working in already has an established resurrection option, dead means dead. i don't have a problem with other people finding ways to resurrect favored characters, but i usually can't. so when i started writing transformers fanfiction, i left jazz dead.
that's not my problem now. i started "were-cars" and in that one, jazz is alive after the movie. i just kinda went "okay reader, jazz is alive, and since i can't come up with a way of resurrecting him, you make one up". lazy, i know. but jazz coming back to life wasn't any sort of focus of that story. i could do the same thing for any version of "roads" where jazz is alive. okay. problem solved, right.
fucking wrong.
'cause the problem is in the essential differences between jazz and optimus as characters.
for one thing, jazz is a lot smaller than prime, so the climbing-inside-him thing just isn't an option -- assuming scorponok could sneak up on jazz in the first place (unlikely).
second -- jazz's initial reaction to scorponok is likely going to be violent. seriously violent. As in, i put the two head-chars into the same room of my headspace last night and jazz-muse nearly killed scorponok-muse. not the best basis for an actual ongoing story. infact my first thought on reading the suggestion was "that would be violent".
and third -- if i ever manage to solve the violence issues and get jazz to stop shooting at poor scorpy, jazz is just so much more pragmatic than prime. scorponk-jazz isn't nearly as good a recipe for crack cuteness as scorponok-optimus was.
other issues include: how is scorponok going to hang out with jazz, since jazz can't carry him and jazz will want to be hanging out in cities? what the fuck would jazz do about scorponok? what would prime want done with scorponok, since he's not the one being approached this time?
yeah, it's not going well. which is so weird, because if i keep them as enemies (jazz an autobot and scorponok a decepticon) they get along entirely too well for my piece of mind. grr
and yet -- as evidenced by the fact that i'm typing this right now, i'm thinking about it.
