so i wrote a little prologue for a part of a "roads" sequel, and gleefully sent it to my ever-encouraging friend to get an opinion.
thing is -- the little bit of the fic mentions a photograph of superion somewhere in antarctica. my friend makes the comment that, considering the size of the mechs involved, superion probably would have been visible over the horizon line. i agree and start wondering about the fictional photograph specifically and brilliantly deduce that that the lighting would have been perfect and dramatic. we go on for a bit, describing this photo, and then i get chewed on by an art bunny to actually draw it.
i've never drawn a transformer before in my life -- much less a 2007movieverse style version of a jet-based gestalt. grr. so even as i'm looking up photos of antarctica to get a sense of the scenery and lighting, i'm thinking i need to figure out how to draw superion.
so i kinda doodled him out:

the two jets circling above his head are dirge and thrust -- considering this is roads'verse and those two and ramjet are the seekers on earth -- and they're there to give superion something to look at and to help give him a sense of scale. skydive is his left arm. you can tell because the alt form i chose for skydive has this huge sensor/satellite dish thing on it and on superion, that ended up on his left shoulder.
and i can't help but think he's going to be a nightmare as i do the final pic of him in antarctica considering the colors/patterns i chose for each of the aerialbots.
